| THE QPI PRINCIPLES |
| 1. Constantly improve
all stakeholders' interests. |
An organization should strive
constantly to improve and advance, in a balanced and optimal manner, the
interests of all of its stakeholders, both short and long term.
|
| 2. Everything affects
everything. |
All parts and actions of
an organization are interconnected in both known and unknown ways.
|
| 3. All actions are important. |
Any action, even very small
ones, can have very large, sometimes unpredictable, effects.
|
| 4. Prioritize to Optimize. |
Process Improvement efforts
should be prioritized to optimize the organization's limited resources
of capital, labor, time and "energy" in optimizing the organizations's
output to achieve the goals of Principle Number 1.
|
| 5. Constantly improve
all processes. |
A) The organization
should strive continuously to improve the quality and productivity of all
of its processes as efficiently as possible and consistent with Principle
Number 4.
|
B) Bringing processes
into an "in control" condition is usually the best approach to managing
and improving processes and should be considered.
|
| 6. Do NOT "Tamper". |
Repeatedly reacting to the
results (i.e. individual outputs) of natural variation of an "in control"
process, called "tampering", will reduce or destroy the capability of the
process.
|
| 7. Empower people and
apply the "Golden Rule". |
A) An individual's
increase in positive motivation and/or ability to perform the tasks within
a process will tend to improve that process.
|
B) An individual's
decrease in positive motivation and/or ability to perform the tasks within
a process will tend to degrade that process.
